Travel Tips:
-
Silk Road Connection: The Silk Road connects the East and West, from China's Shaanxi, Gansu, and Xinjiang provinces to Central Asia all the way to the Mediterranean. Many of our tourism products in Northwest China are related to the Silk Road to some extent. The scenery, lifestyle, ethnicities, and cultures here differ significantly from other regions in China that you may be familiar with. Please do some research in advance or consult a travel agency for detailed information.
-
Climate and Clothing: The climate in the northwest provinces is dry, with hot weather in summer and autumn and significant temperature differences between morning and evening. Especially in Xinjiang, where the north and south regions have diverse climates, it's common to experience different weather patterns such as sunshine in the east and rain in the west. Therefore, besides dressing appropriately for the season, it's advisable to bring extra layers for rain and cold. Prepare sunscreen, moisturizers, hats, and umbrellas for sun protection. Some journeys can be long, and certain attractions may require physical exertion, so prepare comfortable and sturdy shoes and consider motion sickness medication. Also, carry personal slippers and toiletries for convenience during the trip.
-
Time Zone: Xinjiang operates on Beijing time, and there's minimal time difference in the other northwest provinces (Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Qinghai). In Xinjiang, sunset occurs around 22:00 in summer, so you may need to adjust your daily schedule by two hours upon arrival.
-
Cuisine: The cuisine in the northwest provinces' cities is relatively diverse, but it's simpler during travel. Typical dishes are often sour, spicy, or salty, featuring beef, mutton, onions, garlic, and noodles. If you have specific dietary requirements, please inform the guide in advance for arrangements.
-
Meals and Snacks: The distances in the northwest are long, so each day's meals will be arranged according to the itinerary, with no fixed meal times. Carry snacks for nutrition during the journey.
-
Weight Units: In Xinjiang and other provinces, weight is measured in kilograms (kg), where 1 kg equals 1000 grams. Be mindful of this when purchasing items sold by weight.
-
Document Security: Please ensure the security of your identification documents, as most scenic spots implement real-name ticketing systems. Inform the guide promptly if any documents are lost.
-
Fruits: Northwest China, especially Xinjiang, is known as the "Land of Fruits." Various delicious fruits are available from May to October. Tastings will be arranged during the journey, but be mindful of your health condition and avoid drinking tea immediately after eating fruits, as it may cause diarrhea.
-
Respect Local Customs: Northwest China's provinces are home to many ethnicities and religions, each with its own customs and traditions. Respect their customs, follow the guide's instructions and arrangements, and return safely and happily from this harmonious journey.
